WooSox too much as IronPigs fall 7-4

The IronPigs fell to the Worcester Red Sox by a score of 7-4 Thursday night. Catcher Vito Friscia was the hot hitter for the club, with two home runs and a total of 3 hits on the night. Unfortunately for him, none of his three hits had runners on base.

Scott Kingery notched two hits in the game. He also added his 8th stolen base of the year and continues to lead the team in stolen bases this season. Simon Muzziotti added an RBI single as well as his 4th stolen base. The IronPigs have 30 stolen bases in 2023 which lead all of the International League.

The WooSox had the hot bats tonight. Ronaldo Hernandez had a 2-run home run in the 2nd inning and Daniel Palka hit a solo home run in the 3rd inning.

The WooSox were able to rattle the IronPigs starting pitching early. Nick Allgeyer went 1.2 innings and gave up 3 runs. Jeremy Walker replaced him in the second inning and continued the pitching woes by also giving up 3 runs. Between Francisco Morales and Yunior Marte, they faced 10 batters and struck out 8 of them between 3 innings. Mckinnley Moore was recently optioned down to AAA from the Phillies and made his debut tonight. Even though he gave up 3 walks in the inning, he ended the inning with 0 earned runs.

The WooSox got a hot start from starting pitcher and the Red Sox's 14th rated prospect Chris Murphy. He went 6 innings, and gave up 5 hits, 2 earned runs, and struck out 5. The IronPigs will face the Red Sox's 6th and 7th rated prospects during this series and will look for better outcomes.

The series will continue tomorrow at Coca-Cola Park at 6:45pm.
