According to an ESPN report, DT Fletcher Cox has agreed to restructure his contract to open up $5.732 million in cap space.
There is speculation that Howie Roseman is preparing to open up cap so the Eagles can be buyers at the trade deadline on Tuesday, November 3rd.
It should be noted that Cox did not receive a pay cut. The Eagles simply took some of Cox’s base salary and moved it into a signing bonus. This frees up cap space right now but it will increase the cap numbers in upcoming seasons.
With the trade deadline looming ahead, and Roseman’s history of being aggressive at the deadline, it will be interesting to see what the Eagles do in less than 2 weeks.
