Eagles Training Camp 53 Man Roster Prediction

Credit: Trey Madara, Bleeding Green Nation

The Eagles are finally in training camp so now is a perfect time to do a 53 man roster projection:

Quarterback: 3

  • QB1 Carson Wentz

    • Reserves:

      • QB Nate Sudfeld

      • QB Jalen Hurts

Not much to say here as these three players are locked into roster spots. The only question is who will be the backup quarterback.

Running back: 4

  • RB1 Miles Sanders

  • RB2 Boston Scott

    • Reserves

      • RB Corey Clement

      • RB Michael Warren

It is still possible the Eagles add a veteran or snag somebody after roster cuts, but for now I have them keeping Michael Warren due to his size.

Wide Receiver: 7

  • WR1 DeSean Jackson

  • WR2 Alshon Jeffery

  • WR3 Jalen Reagor

    • Reserves

      • WR Greg Ward

      • WR JJ Arcega-Whiteside

      • WR John Hightower

      • WR Quez Watkins

With recent news that Alshon Jeffery may be ready to play sometime in September it seems unlikely he will be placed on PUP which means that the Eagles could very well carry seven wide receivers. This may seem excessive, but the Eagles do not want to be in the same situation they were in last year and if they cut one of Hightower or Watkins, another team could claim them off waivers.

Tight End: 2

  • TE1 Zach Ertz

  • TE2 Dallas Goedert

It may seem like a bad idea to only have two tight ends, but I have them only carrying two as I believe the value of having Watkins or Hightower make the team outweighs the contributions of Josh Perkins or any of the other tightends on the roster.

Offensive Line: 9

  • LT Andre Dillard

  • LG Issac Seumalo

  • C Jason Kelce

  • RG Jason Peters

  • RT Lane Johnson

    • reserves:

      • G/TJack Driscoll

      • G Matt Pryor

      • C Nate Herbig

      • T Jordan Mailata

I believe they will stash 6th round pick OG Prince Tega Wanagho on IR with a phantom injury of some kind. This is a make or break off-season for OT Jordan Mailata and he could easily not make the team.

Defensive Line: 10

  • DE Brandon Graham

  • DT Fletcher Cox

  • DT Jordan Hargrave

  • DE Derek Barnett

    • Reserves:

      • DE Josh Sweat

      • DE Vinny Curry

      • DE Genard Avery

      • DE Shareef Miller

      • DT Malik Jackson

      • DT Hassan Ridgeway

It is very possible that 2019 4th round pick Shareef Miller does not make the team, but I dont belive they will give up on him so soon.

Linebackers: 5

  • MLB TJ Edwards

  • OLB Nate Gerry

  • OLB Duke Riley

    • Reserves:

      • OLB Davion Taylor

      • LB Shaun Bradley

Linebacker is the weakest position on the team and this is a position that could definitely have changes over the next month after final roster cuts.

Cornerback: 6

  • CB1 Darius Slay

  • CB2 Avonte Maddox

  • CB3 Nickell Robey-Coleman

    • Reserves

      • CB Sidney Jones

      • CB Cre'von Leblanc

      • CB Rasul Douglas

The Eagles could end up trading CB Rasul Douglas sometime before the season, but absent a trade or injury, I dont see this group changing very much

Safety: 4

  • FS Jalen Mills

  • SS Rodney McLeod

    • Reserves:

      • S K'von Wallace

      • S Will Parks

The safety spots shouldn't experience any changes after training camp.

Special Teams: 3

  • K Jake Elliott

  • P Cameron Johnston

  • LS Rick Lavoto

These roster spots are locked in.

Practice Squad: 12

  • QB Kyle Lauletta

  • RB Adrian Killins

  • WR Robert Davis

  • TE Noah Togiai

  • OG Sue Opeta

  • C Luke Jeriga

  • DE Joe Ostman

  • DT Anthony Rush

  • LB Casey Toohill

  • LB Alex Singleton

  • S Grayland Arnold
